Idols
εἴδωλον; eidolon, image, idol, double, apparition, phantom, ghost
Reflection.
How many εἴδωλa are mirrored in my eyes? How many generations are reflected in my eyes, how many voices echo in my words? how many images caress my body, how many loving faces are projected on my skin. I am my mother, I am my twin, I am a mother, I am me. I was born as a child, I gave birth to a child, I am constantly reborn. I am idolized in the eyes of my loved ones. I carry their love, I treasure their memories, I am safe in their arms. I cherish every moment of love, every ounce of tenderness, every touch. My body is a tree. My roots are tender and steel. My arms stretch out, over the fields of time and space. Love flows in my veins, through pain, beyond death,
a love with unbroken rhythm, invincible like music and undying,
because it was born when we were born, and whether it dies when we do,
we do not know, and it is no use trying.
