Two worlds
“My eyelids are transparent curtains. When open, I see whatever comes along. When closed, I see what I desire.
(Andreas Embirikos)
There is a secret world lying beneath the surface. Most of the times I prefer to float on top. It’s safe here. The sun is bright above me. Everyday life buzzes in my head, along with the comforting sound of the water. Reality is what it is. I can sense what’s hidden, but I dare not to dive. Diving is for fools who want to risk drowning. I’m lying carefree on the border between the two worlds. The body of water stretches out to the horizon.
But there are times when my body remembers it is made up of water. The ocean lures me deeper and deeper, as I’m diving into the blue. I am by myself; I am myself now. I reach the bottom. (Beware of the sharp corals of desire; extremely dangerous species, sometimes lethal.) I discover broken shells of my truth and rush to the surface for air. Atlantis awaits silently until next time. Νo reason to lie anymore; I was born a diver.
(There is more to life than meets the eye. Can’t you see?)
